1.About these terms
These terms cover the paid parts of Yuga: Yuga Plus (a subscription, monthly or yearly) and minute packs (a one-off purchase). They add to the Terms of Use and the App Licence, between you and Hriday Vanka, the developer. Where they differ on a paid feature, these terms apply. Nothing here reduces your rights under the consumer law of the country you live in.
Status. Plus and minute packs are being prepared and are not on sale yet. These terms apply from the day they go on sale in the app. Until then, everything in Yuga is free.
You buy Plus and minute packs only inside the Yuga app, through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google takes the payment, under its own terms, and handles billing, renewals, cancellation and refunds. Yuga never sees your card or bank details.
2.What each plan includes
| What you get | Free | Yuga Plus (monthly or yearly) | Minute pack |
|---|---|---|---|
| The figures’ voices | 15 minutes when you create an account, then 5 minutes a week (from Monday, UTC) | 200 minutes in each billing month (100 in price band C), starting again on the same day each month, for yearly plans too | 60 extra minutes that never expire, used after your plan’s minutes |
| Text conversations | 40 messages a day (UTC) | Unlimited, within fair use (up to 400 messages a day) | — |
| Debate rooms you watch | Yes | Yes | — |
| Debates you start yourself | 1 a week | Unlimited | — |
| Memory of past calls | No | Yes, if you turn it on (18 and over) | — |
| Clips, cards, badges, sources | Yes | Yes | — |
- You need a Yuga account (Google or Apple sign-in) to buy or use Plus or a minute pack, and to hear the figures’ own voices.
- A “message” is each time you speak or type to a figure in a call; a figure’s greeting doesn’t count. Starting a debate of your own counts once; continuing it, or watching one of the catalogue’s debate rooms, doesn’t.
- Unused monthly or weekly minutes don’t carry over. Minute-pack minutes do: they never expire while your account exists.
- When your minutes run out during a reply, the figure finishes the sentence; the conversation can go on by text or in your phone’s own voice, and the app offers a minute pack or Plus. Nobody is cut off from talking.
- The app shows exactly what Plus includes, and the price, before you buy. If we change what a plan includes, see changes.
3.Prices and price bands
Prices are shown in the app, in your local currency, by the App Store or Google Play, including any taxes the store collects. To keep Yuga fair worldwide, countries are grouped into three price bands by purchasing power; your band comes from the country of your App Store or Google Play account when you buy. In band C (for example India), Plus includes 100 voice minutes a month instead of 200, to reflect its lower price.
The price you agreed applies to your current period. Prices for future periods may change; see price changes.
4.The free trial
- The yearly Plus plan may come with a 3-day free trial. The monthly plan has none. The app shows plainly, before you start it, that a trial is included, when it ends and what you will be charged after it.
- During the trial you get Plus with 30 voice minutes (not 200), and unlimited text and debates within fair use.
- Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it turns into a paid yearly subscription and the store charges you the yearly price. Cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions (see cancelling); you keep the trial until it ends.
- One free trial per person, as the stores allow.
5.Automatic renewal
Plus renews automatically at the end of each period (each month, or each year) at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. The store charges your payment method within the 24 hours before the new period starts. You agree to this when you subscribe, and the app and the store’s purchase screen show the price, the period and that it renews before you confirm.
If a renewal payment fails, the store may retry it and keep Plus active for a short grace period. If it still fails, Plus ends and your account goes back to the free plan; your minute-pack minutes stay.
The App Store and Google Play send their own receipts and, where they do so, renewal reminders. Where the law requires a reminder before a yearly renewal, you will get one.
6.Cancelling
You can cancel at any time, in a few taps, in the store you subscribed through. Once Plus is on sale, the app’s You tab, then Plan, will link straight to it.
- iPhone and iPad: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Yuga, Cancel Subscription (Apple’s guide).
- Android: Google Play, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Yuga, Cancel (Google’s guide).
When you cancel, Plus stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, then stops renewing. You won’t be charged again. Unused minutes of that period end with it.
Deleting your Yuga account or the app does not cancel a subscription, because Apple or Google bills you, not Yuga. Cancel in the store first.
7.Refunds
Because Apple and Google take the payment, refunds are requested from them, under their refund policies:
- App Store: request a refund from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com). I can’t issue refunds for App Store purchases.
- Google Play: Google Play’s refund policy; within 48 hours of purchase you can usually ask Google directly. After that, write to me at support@foundationalcreations.com and I will look at it: on Google Play I can refund in some cases, for example if Plus didn’t work as described.
Your legal rights come first. If the paid features don’t work as described, you may be entitled to a repair, a price reduction or a refund under consumer law, whatever these terms say. In the EU and UK, you have a right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content or services within 14 days; when you buy in the app you will be asked to agree that Plus or a pack starts at once, and once it has started (minutes credited, Plus active) that right may be lost or reduced as the law allows. In India, your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 apply.
If a purchase is refunded, what it gave you ends: Plus stops, and a refunded minute pack is taken off your balance as far as its minutes are still unused.
8.Minute packs
- A minute pack adds 60 minutes of the figures’ voices to your account, once per purchase.
- Pack minutes never expire while your account exists. They are used only after your plan’s own minutes for the period have run out.
- Pack minutes are lost if you delete your account, or if it is deleted after 2 years without a sign-in. They can’t be moved to another account, exchanged for money or transferred to anyone else.
- Pack minutes belong to your Yuga account, not to a phone: sign in with the same Google or Apple account on another phone and they are there.
- If Yuga closes, I will give at least 30 days’ notice and stop selling packs at once.
9.Memory of past calls (Plus)
With Plus you can turn on memory of past calls: a figure remembers up to six short things you told them about yourself (your name, what you study, what you asked about) and greets you with them next time. It is off until you turn it on. You can see what each figure remembers, turn memory off and delete it, one figure’s or all, in the app. The examined figure never remembers.
Memories are kept for 12 months after your last call with that figure. If Plus ends, figures stop using them; they are kept until they expire or you delete them, so they are there if you subscribe again. How this works with your data is in the Privacy Policy.
10.Who can buy
- You must have a Yuga account and be allowed to make purchases in your App Store or Google Play account.
- If you are under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission. Apple’s Ask to Buy and Google Play’s family controls let parents approve purchases.
- Accounts whose year of birth shows someone is under 13 can’t buy anything.
11.Price changes
If the price of Plus changes, it applies only from your next period after the change, never to a period you have already paid for. Apple or Google tells you in advance, as their rules require, and for some increases asks you to agree; if you don’t agree, your subscription ends at the end of the current period. I will also announce price changes in the app at least 30 days before they apply to existing subscribers. You can cancel before the new price applies.
12.Changes to the plans
I may change what the free plan and Plus include, for example adding figures or features. I won’t reduce what Plus includes during a period you have paid for. For a change that makes Plus significantly worse for you (for example fewer voice minutes), I will tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, so you can cancel first. Fair-use limits may be applied to stop abuse (such as automated use), never to stop ordinary use.
13.If Plus ends or we end it
When Plus ends (you cancel, a payment fails or a purchase is refunded), your account goes back to the free plan, and your minute-pack minutes stay.
If I suspend or close your account for a serious breach of the Terms of Use or the Acceptable Use Policy, you lose access to Plus and pack minutes; where that was not your fault, or the law requires, I will arrange a refund for the unused part. If I stop offering Yuga or Plus, I will give at least 30 days’ notice, stop renewals, and arrange refunds for any period paid for and not provided, as far as the stores allow.
14.Help and complaints
Problems with a purchase, minutes not credited, or anything else: support@foundationalcreations.com. Include roughly when you bought and through which store (never send card details). Complaints go to the Grievance Officer, Pranay Vanka, as described on Grievance Redressal and Contact: acknowledged within 24 hours, resolved within 7 days. In India you can also contact the National Consumer Helpline (1915).
